Antimicrobial for HVAC

The World Health Organization, in a 1984 study, suggested that up to 30% of new and remodeled buildings worldwide may be the subject of complaints relating to indoor air quality. For these reasons, today there is much demand to control the growth and spread of bacteria than can be the cause of poor indoor air quality. Many new and remodel building projects are calling for antimicrobial protected steel to be used in the HVAC systems of public building such as airports, schools, office buildings and medical facilities. Even some industrial applications are now calling for antimicrobial protected steel in their HVAC systems.

This is because HVAC systems provide an ideal environment where microbiological growth can occur, due to the moisture, warm environment, darkness and dirt that may be present in the system. These organisms can grow in the drain pans, filters, coils and walls of the system. As air passes through these areas, the air can transport these bacteria throughout the building.

By using antimicrobial protected steel in the HVAC system, the growth of these bacteria can be significantly reduced. It can be field or shop applied and is easily applied by brush, roller or spray application. No special equipment is needed and everything cleans up with water. There is the additional benefit of little to no odor during application and no odor once dried. Silver Bullet is available in Tracer Black, Tracer White, Clear and in an aerosol clear for smaller applications and touch up. Color when wet is grey, dry is black.

Silver Bullet AM® is a cost effective alternative to using already coated HVAC steel. And don't be fooled by coatings containing bactericides. They will only inhibit the growth of the bacteria present at the time and have no ability for long term protection of the HVAC system.
